SCInterface SCM License

The following instructions are for retrieving or installing your SCM license for SCInterface on an SCM. The SCInterface SCM License determines:

  1. The number of SCs can connect into your SCInterface SCM by allocating SC Credits.
  2. The types of applications that SCInterface can manage.

A code is required if you wish to order a new or upgrading an existing license. Please following the Upgrading or Renewing Your the SCM License Code instructions for more information.

Upgrading or Renewing Your the SCM License (Support for More SCs)

The following should be used for:

  1. Requesting a new license
  2. Increase the number of SC licenses directly from SCInterface.
  3. Renew an expired SCM License.

To upgrade your license:

  1. Login to the web interface of SCInterface as sysadmin. You must be an administrator with privileges to view the SCM information.
  2. Select the orange wrench icon next to the SCM to retrieve the license code.
  3. Click on Request New License next to Upgrade or Renew License to submit a request to renew your license.
  4. You will be redirected to the www.scinterface.com website.
  5. Choose the appropriate platform
  6. You will be taken to a form where your SCM License Code should be filled in automatically. Fill in all of your contact information and hit submit.
  7. After filling in the form completely, a new support ticket will be generated. Please allow 1 to 2 business days for us to process your request. We will notify you over the support ticket when your license has been upgrade. After we notify you that your license has been upgraded, you can then manually update your SCM license.

Updating Your SCM License

There are two methods for updating your SCInterface license for your SCM from SCInterface's license server:

If your account is in good standing or you need to upgrade, view the Upgrading or Renewing Your SCM instructions for more information on requesting or upgrading your SCInterface license.

Updating Your SCM License Through the Web Interface

  1. Login to the web interface of SCInterface as sysadmin. You must be an administrator with privileges to view the SCM information.
  2. Select the SCM that needs to have its license renewed.
  3. Click Download from License Manager next to Refresh License to have the SCM communicate with the master SCInterface license server to retrieve the license for your installation.
  4. If successful, the license should be updated. If not, an error message will appear. Please submit a support ticket through http://support.scinterface.com if you are unable to update your license through the web interface or try Updating Your SCM License Manually Through the Console.
  5. If your license still fails for some reason, please contact us.

Updating Your SCM License Manually Through the Console

There are two options for manually updating an SCM license for all of your SCs:

  1. Have the SCM request the license again from SCInterface
    -OR-
  2. Manually install the SCM license

Have the SCM request the license again from SCInterface

  1. Login or SSH to your SCM as root.
  2. Restart your SCM by typing the following if you are a...
    1. on a Linux system: /etc/init.d/SCM stop; /etc/init.d/SCM start
    2. on a Redhat system: service SCM stop; service SCM start
  3. If your license still fails for some reason, please contact us.

OR

Manually install the SCM license

  1. Login to http://support.scinterface.com with your support username and password.
  2. Within http://support.scinterface.com, click the plus (+) sign next to Downloads and then select SCInterface Licenses.
  3. You should see a list of SCM licenses available to you. If you do not see your license, please submit a support ticket through http://support.scinterface.com.
  4. Click on the Download link next to the license you wish to download for your SCM.
  5. Login or SSH to your SCM as root.
  6. Rename ~scmuser/license to ~scmuser/license.bak.
  7. Upload the file license under ~scmuser/license.
  8. Logout and login as root.
  9. Restart your SCM by typing the following if you are a...
    1. on a Linux system: /etc/init.d/SCM stop; /etc/init.d/SCM start
    2. on a Redhat system: service SCM stop; service SCM start
  10. If your license still fails for some reason, please contact us.
