SCInterface Google Gadget

The SCInterface Google Gadget is a simple way to add SCInterface to your website, including Google Personalized Homepage, Google Desktop and Google Page Creator.
These instructions will walk you through:
- Downloading and installing the SCInterface Google Gadget to work with SCInterface.
- Configuring a user with atleast 'Status' permissions assigned to one or more SCs or applications. This will allow the SCInterface Google Gadget to retrieve and display the status of the SCs or applications to be displayed.
- Installing the Google Gadget into your website.

Prerequisites
- SCInterface v2.2 or later...
- Fully installed.
- With a valid license.
- Accessible from the Internet.
- One or more SCs and/or applications configured on your SCM.
Download and Install the SCInterface Google Gadget
- Login as your uiuser of your SCInterface interface. This is usually the same as your web server.
- Change directories to the main directory of your SCInterface web installation.
- NOTE: Make sure that the sci_phpapi and www folders are located within the same directory.
- From the command prompt, type:
- wget http://gadget.scinterface.com/sci_gadget.tgz
- tar -xzvf ./sci_gadget.tgz
- The folder sci_gadget should now appear within the same folder as sci_phpapi and www folder.
- Delete the file sci_gadget.tgz.
Configure SCInterface for the SCInterface Google Gadget
- Login to your SCInterface web interface as sysadmin or as another admistrator.
- Add a new user called sci_gadget under Admin -> Users.
- Assign this user with only 'Status' permissions to one or more SCs and/or applications.
- This can be done by navigating under Admin -> Applications or Admin -> SControllers tabs and then viewing the User Permissions for that application.
- IMPORTANT: Only assign status permissions to this user since the SCInterface Google Gadget will be publicly posted to your website.
- Login your SCInterface web interface as sci_gadget to view applications and SCs that this user can see. Make sure that you cannot configure or start and stop the applications that you wish to view from within the Web interface. Otherwise, double check your permissions on that user again.
- Once you have confirmed the login information, we can now configure the SCInterface Google Gadget module.
