Dependency
From SCInterface Wiki
Nearly every component of SCInterface depends on some other application in order to run. Within SCInterface, these dependencies must be install in order for SCInterface to function. Many dependencies can be installed from rpm, yum, yast, apt or even compiled directly from source code. We prefer using apt to install all necessary dependencies for SCInterface because of it being easy to install, configure and use.
For instance, SCInterface macros rely heavily on dependencies. One or more dependencies are required in order for a macro to function. A dependency could be the language perl or expect (TCL), which inturn uses the dependency getty (or mgetty) to communicate over a telnet session to another sensor within a macro. Many times if a macro needs a particular dependency, SCInterface will automatically download them from scinterface.com*.
